On it's premier night, "Camp Rock" starring the Jonas Brothers and introducing Demi Lovato, beats the first installment of "High School Musical" with an average of 8.9 million total viewers at 8-10 p.m Friday, making it the cable network's second-most-watched original movie ever behind "HSM 2," but outperforming "High School Musical 1" which had 7.7 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
In the kid demos, "Camp Rock" drew 3.5 million kids 6-11 and 3.4 million tweens 9-14, which Disney said was higher than "American Idol's" most recent season premiere and finale on Fox according to Reuters.
