Dr. Drew Pinsky just made a big mistake, using an icon like Tom Cruise as an example against Scientology. Speculating the Tom Cruise grew up in "neglect" is like shooting yourself in the head, or better yet, serving yourself a lawsuit! Apparently he said this in an interview with Playboy. That's relevant now isn't it?
Tom Cruise has been used to sell everything from movies to marijuana. I don't think it's a good idea to cross him after he legally pursued the pharmaceutical company that used his name after a drug
Dr. Drew is quoted to have said, "To me, that’s a function of a very deep emptiness and suggests serious neglect in childhood — maybe some abuse, but mostly neglect."
Bert Fields, lawyer to Tom Cruise, has already responded to this, in a very non-professional manner I'd say, calling Dr. Drew a "unqualified television performer." Just as unprofessional as Dr. Drew.
So far, Dr. Drew has apologized though saying he meant no harm. Unfortunately when you say things like that people are more likely to NOT forget.
